VISIBILITY ANALYZER

User's Manual for The Visibility Analyzer

The Visibility Analyzer can be used to find the exact search engine placement of a specific webpage, pages within a subdirectory, or all pages under a given domain name based on a keyword search. In addition, the VA can produce a report showing the all URLs for a given search if no specific URL is defined.

(1 - 2) To begin, enter in the keywords to be searched in the "Enter search words" box on the middle left of the program screen. To the right, enter in the URL you wish to check the position of for the keyword search. Is is not necessary to type in the <http://> or even the <www.> if applicable as the VA will match the root domain name with any variation. If you enter in dancing.com - the VA will automatically match that with dancing.com and www.dancing.com and any subsequent sub-directories or pages (i.e. http://www.dancing.com/ballet/steps.htm would be considered a match. If, however, you want to check the placement a specific page, enter the full URL <dancing.com/ballet/steps.htm> in the URL box.

(3) On the bottom right of the screen is a sliding control that by default is set to 10 Hits (only the top 10 search results will be retrieved). You can adjust this control up to a maximum of the top 100 results.

(4) After the keywords, URL and number of desired results are set, simply click on the Search Button. The small screen on the upper right of the interface will show the search progress. Once the progress report stops (the scrolling text stops), the search is complete.

(5) There are now two ways to check the results. If you mouse over one of the search engine logos and right-click - the results (URL's only) from that engine will appear. If you click on one of the URL's - a browser window will launch taking you to that URL.

(6 - 7) You can also view a summary report by clicking on the Recap button by the text entry boxes. This report will appear in the browser window and show you if the URL you entered appeared in the results you requested (top 10 - 100) and exactly what position it was found.

If you wish to generate a report showing the top 10 - 100 results (not just one URL) for any given keyword search, simply leave the Enter URL box blank and once the search is complete click on the Recap button.

Anything that appears in the Report/Browser window  (7) can be printed by right- clicking within that window. You will be presented with standard browser commands including Print.

You can go directly to any of the search engines by clicking on its logo (5).
