Who's On

Who's On is a special report, it shows who is actually on the site and what they are doing, it also illustrates exactly how "live" Statistics Server maintains its databases. Shown are...

  • Who is currently on the Web Site by their unique IP Address.
  • Everything they are doing (below the magnifying glass).
  • Their corporate identity.
  • Their geographic origin.
  • Their machine name.
  • Time Spent.
  • Hits / Kilobytes
  • Browser Tag
  • Referring URL

Watches

Watches offer a way to track individual resources on the Web site in detail. Like all standard reports, watches can be viewed for any day, week or month within recorded Web Site history.

  • URL Watches are used to track how often a particular URL, CGI gateway or resource on the Web Server is accessed. The IP Address of every user who accesses the resource can be logged. This is a feature you could use to Watch page impressions.
  • IP Watches are used to watch any IP Address or range of IP Addresses that visit the Web Site. Complete user sessions for anyone from a specific IP or IP range can be logged unless "Disable Who's On session history" is checked for Statistics Server in which case this feature is no longer applicable.
  • Click Thru Watches are used to measure inbound or outbound click throughs. This is most often used to watch advertising being sold or purchased. They can also be used to track any link within the Web site.

Help System

Statistics Server provides three help options, On, Off and Titles. This lets the end user select the degree of help they require. Help resources are located at: "\statisticsserver\templates\english\help.def"

Refresh Button

The Refresh button forces Statistics Server to generate a fresh report. Note the time stamp located in the upper left corner of the report, it reflects the time that the server generated the report.

Printing Reports

Statistics Server can generate printable versions of reports anywhere the "Print" icon is displayed. Printable reports contain no navigation controls such as URL anchors or buttons. The Web Browser "Print" command is used to generate the report.

  1. Select the type of report you want to print and the time period for the report.
  2. Select the "Print" button located at the top of the page.
  3. Use your Web Browser Print command to send the print job to your printer.
  4. Use your Web Browser Back button to exit the printable Web page and return to the Statistics Report interface.

Zoomed Views

On many reports you will see a magnifying glass. It is used to display a more detailed report for the item adjacent to it.

Back Button

The Back button will return you back to the main Report view from zoomed views.

Selecting Report Period

Reports can be generated for any day, week or month within recorded Web Site history. Once a Report period has been selected it will be applied to all reports across the package. The current query range is detailed in the "Query Information" section of the report which also contains the button used to access the query selector dialog.

The Report Period is selected by first selecting Day, Week or Month.

  • Months are selected from the combo box. Netscape users must click the Go button.
  • Weeks are selected by clicking the appropriate Sunday (first day of the week).
  • Days are selected by clicking on any anchored day of the month.
